As the Director of Technology in University Marketing, I play an essential role in shaping the future of VCU’s digital environment. I provide strategic direction in the areas of technology, IT, and digital development, to ensure the department maintains a scalable and sustainable technical infrastructure.

Associate Director of Technology

As the Associate Director of Digital in University Marketing, I play an essential role in shaping the future of University Marketing and VCU’s digital environment. I provide strategic direction in the areas of technology and IT development, to ensure the department maintains a scalable and sustainable technical infrastructure. I am also responsible for managing the IT departments budget, staff, vendor relationships and serving as project manager for mission critical web-based marketing initiatives.

Assistant Director of Technology

As the Assistant Director of Technology for Client and Innovation Services, I was responsible for the internal and external facing digital strategy on all I.T. and web-related projects and initiatives for the Division of University Relations. This involved building and leading the team responsible for creating and delivering innovative, world class digital experiences for clients throughout the VCU community.

Technology Manager

As Technology Manager at VCU, I worked in the Department of Creative Services, a full-service creative agency that offers marketing, communications, branding, media, and digital services for schools, departments, academic units, and offices throughout the university. In my role, I was responsible for leading the technical strategy, development, deployment and innovation of the department’s web, mobile, and IT initiatives. This consisted of managing a team of front and back-end developers, serving as senior technical lead on all projects, and working closely with internal and external clients, third-party vendors, and university partners, throughout all phases of the project life-cycle.

Front-end Developer

As a Lead Front End Engineer at OpenSilo, my primary focus is utilizing modern front-end and client-side technologies to build standards compliant, high-performance, scalable, data-driven web applications.


In my role, I am responsible for building out much of the core front-end UI functionality for the OpenSilo platform; This includes work on distributed widgets, support dashboards, analytic dashboards, and other feature-rich applications.


Some of the languages, libraries, and frameworks I regularly utilize range from AngularJS, Node.js, jQuery/jQueryUI, HTML5, CSS3, Grunt, Bower, and Git.

Application Architect/Programmer Lead

As Application Architect/Programmer Lead, I worked on the Applications Development team, where I served as senior technical and project lead for various agency efforts. In my role, I was responsible for the architecture, design, development, and delivery of solutions that enabled internal and external stakeholders to communicate, collaborate, and report on agency activities more efficiently. This included projects spanning a variety of technical areas such as: content management systems, web portals, web services, and data warehouses, which allowed information to be delivered securely across both web and mobile based platforms.

Senior Programmer Analyst

As a Senior Programmer Analyst in the Alternative Services Group, my roles, in addition to my continued development and support of state-wide service systems, included the added responsibility of serving as a senior technical lead on various projects. My responsibilities also included continued work on systems aimed at automating and bringing services, that were previously manual processes, to the web and other platforms with the goal of improving efficiency and scalability. In addition to these development duties, I earned the added responsibility of assisting with the development and maintenance of the Interactive Voice Response system as it began its state-wide rollout.

Programmer Analyst

At the state of Virginia’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), I was a Programmer Analyst working in the Alternative Services Group. My role included creating and supporting service systems across various digital channels with the goal of providing efficient and quality service to DMV’s growing customer base. This included developing both internal and external systems to support and facilitate the Department’s state-wide online initiatives. Some of my projects included development and/or support of the state-wide online license renewal system, an internal purchasing system for local DMV’s to order materials from DMV headquarters, and a vehicle registration system.

Web Developer

While at Merge Computer Group, I worked in a small agency start-up environment, where my responsibilities included conception, design, development, implementation, and deployment of a variety of web-based solutions. I worked in all phases of the project lifecycle on tasks such as user interface design, front-end development, server-side programming, and database architecture. My projects included e-commerce platforms, personal websites, and custom data driven web applications.


As a consultant, I have the opportunity to work in a variety of areas and assist a diverse clientele with a variety of issues.

In being exposed to such a range of issues, I am able to offer creative, forward thinking solutions to resolve problems ranging from the more familiar to the highly complexed.
